What's Old Barney? |
"Old Barney" is otherwise known as Barnegat Lighthouse. Originally built in 1834, it was replaced by the current lighthouse in 1858. Ships at sea were able to see its light from up to 30 miles away. The lighthouse was "retired" in 1927 but is still a popular tourist attraction to this day.

What's Swiss Bob? |
Over the years there have been many hugely popular rides on the boardwalk like the Himalaya, Tilt-a-Whirl and Loop-the-Loop. Swiss Bob was certainly one of them at the Casino Pier on the Seaside Boardwalk. With an image of the Swiss Alps in the background, this coaster ride thrilled thousands and thousands over the years, often with the operator asking ride-goers, "Do you want to go faster?" while rock music blared in the background.

What's a BlueClaw? |
Two answers would be correct here. One is millions of years old. The other is less than a decade. Callinectes sapidus otherwise known as the Atlantic Blue Crab is known for its blue markings on its claws. Hence the name BlueClaws. Popular with both fishermen and tourists, BlueClaws are plentiful in local waters, primarily the bay. The male is called a Jimmy and the female a Sally.
The other BlueClaw would be a member of the Lakewood BlueClaws baseball team. The class-A, minor league team is an affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The BlueClaws offer both locals and shore visitors alike a great place to see the future major league baseball stars of tomorrow. The BlueClaws captured their first SAL championship in 2006. Their home games are played at FirstEnergy Park. |
